Habitat: Edge of disturbed prairie on edge of rocky drainage. Moderate slopes. Soiltype: Bonti-Truce soils. 1-8% slopes. Associates include Schizachyrium scoparium, Hedyotis nigricans, Thelesperma filifolium, Engelmannia peristenia, Mimosa nuttallii, Monarda citriodora. Uncommon.
Reproductive Condition: flowering=early
