Habitat: Rare in Quercus grisea-Juniperus deppeana woodland in small dry tuff canyon below rhyolite palisades. Other associates include Agave havardiana, Arbutus xalapensis, Artemisia ludoviciana, Bothriochloa barbinodis, Bouteloua hirsuta, Bouvardia ternifolia, Cercocarpus montanus, Dasylirion sp., Eragrostis sp., Erigonum jamesii, Fendlera rupicola, Galium mexicanum, G. microphyllum, Garrya wrightii, Gutierrezia sp., Hedyotis nigricans, Lycurus phleoides, Menodora longiflora, Mimosa biuncifera, Muhlenbergia emersyleyi, M. rigida, Nolina texana, Paronychia jamesii, Penstemon barbatus, Perityle rupestris, Pinus cembroides, Quercus hypoleucoides (rare), Q. gravesii (rare), Rhus aromatica, Schizachyrium sanguineum var. hirtifolium, Yucca treculeana.
Reproductive Condition: flowering + fruiting=mid
