Habitat: Common, forming loose colonies on moist neutral fine sand (Nueces Series, Arenic Paleustalfs) in seasonal wetland community in unshaded natural depression on very gently undulating landscape of South Texas Holocene Sand Sheet. Associates include Cynodon dactylon, Cyperus squarrosus, Heteranthera limosa, Lipocarpha sp., Marsilea sp., Rotala ramosior, Schoenoplectus sp.
Reproductive Condition: flowering + fruiting=mid
