Habitat: Occasional smallish tree in mesquite-hackberry woodland strip at top of clay slope. Associates include Acacia minuata, Aloysia gratissima, Arundo donax, Bromus catharticus, B. japonicus, Callirhoe leiocarpa, Celtis laevigata, C. pallida, C. reticulata, Cissus incisa, Clematis drummondii, Cocculus carolinus, Colubrina texensis, Condalia hookeri, Diospyros texana, Ibervillea lindheimeri, Ligustrum japonicum, Lycium berlandieri, Melia azedarach, Merremia dissecta, Mirabilis jalapa, Parietaria pensylvanica, Parthenocissus quinquefolia, Phoradendron tomentosum, Prosopis glandulosa, Rapistrum rugosum, Rhynchosia minima, Simsia calva, Smilax bona-nox, Tinantia anomala, Torilis arvensis, Toxicodendron sp., Tridens texanus, Viguiera dentata, Vitis mustangensis, Yucca treculeana, Ziziphus obtusifolia.
