Locality: Maricopa County: Grown in cultivation at Desert Botanical Garden, Phoenix, N 33 deg 27' 33'', W 111 deg 56' 35'', 1200 ft., 366 m: accession number 1985 0393 0146; originally received as a plant from an unknown source; grown from seed from a plant not of known wild origin or source.
Description: Multistemmed mound, plant height ca 14 inches; stem color grayish-brown, brownish-green or reddish; rib count 11-12; spines tan or light gray with darker tips; flowers collected in the morning, diameter (31) 59-82 mm, length 67-86 mm, outer perianth bright yellow with a light red midstripe, inner perianth bright yellow; stigma lobe number 11-12, bright green; style yellow; filaments golden; additional flowers collected on 1 May 2010.
