Within boundaries of U.S. Navy's Chocolate Mountains Aerial Gunnery Range
Steep rocky slopes of gneiss and schist and sandy washes with sparse, open scrub of Larrea tridentata, Encelia farinosa, Krameria grayi on slopes and Hyptis emoryi, Cercidium floridum, and Peucephyllum schottii in washes.
Low shrub, leaves and stems grayish purple, flowers reddish purple. Occasional.
