Locality: United States, California, Riverside, western base of the Chocolate Mountains, small canyon c. 1.25 mi due north of Imperial Co. line and c. 3.75 miles due west of aqueduct, accessed by dirt road off of main aqueduct road at siphon station. Within boundaries of U.S. Navy's Chocolate Mountains Aerial Gunnery Range

Elevation: 488 meters (1601ft)
Habitat: Steep rocky slopes of gneiss and schist and sandy washes with sparse, open scrub of Larrea tridentata, Encelia farinosa, Krameria grayi on slopes and Hyptis emoryi, Cercidium floridum, and Peucephyllum schottii in washes.
Notes: Low shrub, leaves and stems grayish purple, flowers reddish purple. Occasional.
